Hearts Of Bass Vol 2

HEART OF BASS is a non-profit based in the SF Bay Area who does humanitarian work and mobilizes dance music lovers to get involved in fundraising for social issues. BRAP DEM! Recordings teamed up with HEARTS OF BASS to present the series HEARTS OF BASS – I LOVE JAPAN. All profits go to Japan Tsunami/Quake relief.

Volume 2 contains an impressive set of tunes. Each donated or created for this compilation. Forward thinking Dubstep, Drum & Bass, and Minimal, all composed by some of today’s best and up and coming brightest.

Among these tracks is a tune by Sublife recording artists Lukeino & Stereotype. Coastal Dub is an East Coast meets West collaboration bringing vibes of the Atlantic as well as the Pacific together in a half step dnb track.

The artwork was created by L.A. based artist FARRON LOATHING who donated the piece which will also be made into a limited edition print with all proceeds going to Japanese Quake relief.

BASE Volume 3 features Lukeino, owner of Sublife Recordings and the newest member of the infamous Bachelors of Science. Womp TV flew up to San Francisco and visited Sublife Recordings’ headquarters on a gorgeous sunny morning by the waterfront. Lukeino hooked us up with a Dutch breakfast of coffee and herb then sat down with us on camera to talk about his sound and production process.

“I don’t consider myself a DJ” -Lukeino

Womp TV asked Lukeino questions like why he started Sublife Recordings and the process of doing so. The interview rolled into his creative process of his smooth bass roller sound. He has put out over 8 releases in the past two years and 1 vinyl under the Sublife Brand. His track “The Key” has been featured on Crissy Criss’ show on BBC extra. His latest release is Sublife’s first EP “Crackatoa” that he co-produced with dubstep artist Jamal featuring Calculon and Sinistarr. Sit back and enjoy the sounds of the Bay Area’s smoothest sexiest bassline boss, LUKEINO!

“The goal at the end of the day is to make music people enjoy.” – Lukeino

Sublife drops it’s first E.P. featuring tracks by San Francisco producers Jamal & Lukeino alongside collaborations with Sinstarr (Detroit) & Caclulon (San Diego).

The title track of this release, Crackitoa (feat. Calculon), is a tried and tested dancefloor smasher with heavy dancehall halfstep dnb beats, dubby vocal bits and nasty synth parts that get the crowd jumping instantaneously. Moon Quakes (featuring rising Detroit talent, Sinistarr) gets a bit darker while keeping the same style rhythm and adding some techy vibes. Finally the Takeover Dub & it’s more lazor friendly version, The Takeover, round out the EP with a bit of dubby goodness.

DJ support from AK1200, Reid Speed, Bacherlors of Science, Gremlinz, Stunna & Method One, amongst many others.

Sublife Recordings is proud to announce our newest release…

Aphonic – Echoic Memories / Gripfunk

Aphonic – Echoic Memories (Clip) by sublife

Echoic Memories is the type of tune that can reflect a number of moods and vibes. Smooth and light yet dark and edgy at times this track is aptly named as it can transport the listener to a state of introspective thought. With the use of meticulous and thoughtful drum programming and close attention to the most minor of details in the sound effects and percussion elements, Aphonic has created a classic piece of music which is as layered and thick as it is hypnotic.

Aphonic – Gripfunk (Clip) by sublife

The backing track is another great tune from the Californian due entitled Gripfunk. As the name suggests, this one is designed slightly more for the dancefloor than the flip while still working well in the headphones or at home. Swinging drums lead the way as other percussion elements, funky basslines and nice resolving synths parts sit right in the pocket and bring it all together.

DJ support for this release by Bachelors of Science, Method One, Undersound & Calculon, amongst others.
