crackatoa art

Sublife drops it’s first E.P. featuring tracks by San Francisco producers Jamal & Lukeino alongside collaborations with Sinstarr (Detroit) & Caclulon (San Diego).

The title track of this release, Crackitoa (feat. Calculon), is a tried and tested dancefloor smasher with heavy dancehall halfstep dnb beats, dubby vocal bits and nasty synth parts that get the crowd jumping instantaneously. Moon Quakes (featuring rising Detroit talent, Sinistarr) gets a bit darker while keeping the same style rhythm and adding some techy vibes. Finally the Takeover Dub & it’s more lazor friendly version, The Takeover, round out the EP with a bit of dubby goodness.

DJ support from AK1200, Reid Speed, Bacherlors of Science, Gremlinz, Stunna & Method One, amongst many others.

Sublife Recordings is proud to announce our newest release…

Aphonic – Echoic Memories / Gripfunk

Aphonic – Echoic Memories (Clip) by sublife

Echoic Memories is the type of tune that can reflect a number of moods and vibes. Smooth and light yet dark and edgy at times this track is aptly named as it can transport the listener to a state of introspective thought. With the use of meticulous and thoughtful drum programming and close attention to the most minor of details in the sound effects and percussion elements, Aphonic has created a classic piece of music which is as layered and thick as it is hypnotic.

Aphonic – Gripfunk (Clip) by sublife

The backing track is another great tune from the Californian due entitled Gripfunk. As the name suggests, this one is designed slightly more for the dancefloor than the flip while still working well in the headphones or at home. Swinging drums lead the way as other percussion elements, funky basslines and nice resolving synths parts sit right in the pocket and bring it all together.

DJ support for this release by Bachelors of Science, Method One, Undersound & Calculon, amongst others.

Some info on the releases…

A: LUKEINO FEAT. PAULIE RHYME – THE KEY (DUBSWORTH REMIX)

The Key (Dubsworth Remix) – Clip by sublife

San Francisco bass music heavy weight, Dubsworth, gives his 140bpm take on The Key for Sublife’s first Dubstep release. Precise and intricately automated fx, detailed drum rhythms and an under water vibe give this track a unique feel. This one is sure to keep dancefloors bubbling and heads nodding for a long time to come.

AA: ICU – GUNMEN DUB

ICU – Gunmen Dub (Clip) by sublife

Gunmen Dub, by New York native ICU, is another one for the true dub heads. Organic instruments meet synthesis in this funky stepper as ICU brings it back to the roots and reminds us where it all came from.

DJ support for this release by 6BLOCC, Antiserum, Pawn, Hellfire
Machina, Ill-Esha & DLX amongst many others.

Coming out November 29th are a couple of instant classics by Undersound from Wales, UK.

A: UNDERSOUND – RUNAWAY

Undersound – Run Away (SBLF006 Clip) by sublife recordings

Runaway is a soulful roller with a classic feel. Undersound does it right and equips this track with some choice and running breaks, subby bass stabs, and haunting vocals. A nice funky swing on half-time breakdowns give this tune a perfect laid back contrast to the high energy of the big drops that will be sure to have the fellas and the ladies getting physical on the dancefloor.

AA: UNDERSOUND – ALL SEEING

Undersound – All Seeing (SBLF006 Clip) by sublife recordings

There is something nice about a tune that reminds you of the past but also looks to the future and that is exactly what All Seeing can do for it’s listener. A bit harder and darker than the flip, this track provides the rockers with something for a serious brock out session. Understated vocal stabs hang out in the back of the room while big bass and hard hitting drums take the main stage and are prepared to smack up any beard stroker in the place.

DJ support for this release has been recieved by Dan marshall, Stanza, Stunna, Calculon, Phil hustle, Soul Intent, D funk, Celerity, Andy Sim, and many more.

A: LUKEINO FEAT. PAULIE RHYME – THE KEY (ATLANTIC CONNECTION REMIX)
AA: MUTT, CALCULON & AUSTIN SPEED – RUBY SKY

Lukeino – The Key (Atlantic Connection Remix) – (Clip) by sublife

Mutt, Calculon & Austin Speed – Ruby Sky (Clip) by sublife

Sublife steps up for it’s first vinyl release with a hard hitting yet super smooth dancefloor friendly number. Atlantic Connection delivers a nice dubby remix to “The Key” by Lukeino & featuring Paulie Rhyme. Deep subs and dubbed out vocal bits get the vibe moving as the beats and breaks roll out some choice rhythms. Be ready for some hands in the air when this one drops… In the jungle, jungle, jungle!

The flip side of this plate offers another heater for the floor with “Ruby Sky” by Mutt, Calculon & Austin Speed. This tune starts out with a deceptively laid back and minimal intro with some fresh sound design and nice deep vibes. When it drops it hits tough with super low subs and running beats along with some choice vocal stabs and creative use of fx.

This release has already received early DJ support from Crissy Criss, The Bachelors of Science, Submorphics, Sinistarr & Stunna amongst others.
